Fancy a night of cabaret & possibly a naked bloke on a bike?

Community reporters are wanted to review this Saturday evening fundraiser for Brighton Naked Bike Ride 2010. The group are looking to raise their profile in advance of the world-wide ride on 13 June 2010, and your blog, writer up, footage or photographs would help them tremendously.

The night’s performances include our own BHCR Yvonne Luna, who’s doing performance poetry with a twist!

Read on for more information…..and hopefully see you there.

Come and help us Spring Forward

by scipmark on 12/03/2010

Sunday March 21st sees the clocks go forward and also marks the climax of the Brighton & Hove Learning Festival. Brighton & Hove Community Reporters are joining a host of people in celebrating learning as part of Spring Forward, a two-day extravaganza of learning activities. We’ll be based at Jubilee Library in the centre of Brighton, and are looking for reporters to head off to report on the many events happening across the city.

We need people who can Tweet, blog, video, photograph or write about the events over the weekend – you can be anyone with any experience and any interest and we’ll help you get your voice heard.

Please send an email to mark@scip.org.uk to register your interest.

Full details of the Spring Forward events can be found on the Learning Festival website, or download the programme by clicking here

What equipment and software I use for video and audio editing

March 12, 2010

On Saturday 6 March, I ran a taster session that focused primarly on video editing. As a number of people expressed interest, but couldn’t attend, I thought I’d share the equipment and sofware I used during the session.
I made sure that all the software I used was all free to obtain so anyone with a [...]

The first Brighton Marathon is taking place on April 18th along the seafront. 12,000 runners will be taking part.  Some streets will be holding street parties to celebrate the event. Will you be joining in or is it going to be one big traffic problem for everyone?
Does a big event like this bring a city together [...]

Digital Inclusion Conference

March 11, 2010

Joined all the key people interested in the world of digital inclusion yesterday. While I have heard the phrase digital inclusion, the conference deepened my understanding as speakers outlined how many people’s lives will be impoverished if they cannot keep up the digital revolution.  Some jobs are only available online, so much information on local government [...]

Live from NDI10: Digital Inclusion Conference, London

March 10, 2010

Caroline, Mark and I have come up to London this morning to attend NDI10: Digital Participation, the 5th National Digital Inclusion Conference. The two-day conference is being held at the cavernous Vinopolis at London Bridge, which disappointingly wasn’t full of wine ( I think that’s for later!).
We’re here to network, report, learn and hopefully [...]

One of the first people to come along to one of our community reporter taster sessions was Claire Banks, who blogs for The Argus. Her latest post explains a love affair with London Road and looks ahead to the Sound Maps of London Road that will be created this weekend as part of the Brighton [...]
